Cookies & Local Storage
Effective 30 September 2026 · Beta 0.9
In short
We use one essential cookie to keep you signed in, plus a little storage on your phone so trips survive weak signal. No analytics, advertising or third-party tracking cookies. That's why there's no cookie banner: nothing optional to accept.Cookies
| Name | Type | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
| __Host-rf_session | Strictly necessary (first-party) | Keeps you signed in. HttpOnly, Secure and SameSite=Lax: page scripts can’t read it and other sites can’t send it. | After 12 hours of inactivity, or 7 days at most; immediately on sign-out |
Strictly necessary cookies can't be switched off, because the app can't work without them. Blocking them in your browser will stop you from signing in.
Storage on your device
| Name | Kind | Purpose | Cleared |
|---|---|---|---|
| rf-gps-queue | IndexedDB | GPS points recorded during a trip that haven’t uploaded yet (e.g. no signal) | Each point is deleted once the server confirms it |
| rf-beta-notice | localStorage | Remembers that you dismissed the beta notice | When you clear site data |
| Service worker | Browser app shell | Lets you install the app on your home screen. It caches no data. | When you uninstall the app or clear site data |
Third parties
Map views load from Google Maps. Google may set its own cookies when it serves map images and scripts, under Google's privacy policy. We don't use Google Analytics or any advertising services.
Managing cookies
You can clear cookies and site data in your browser settings at any time. You'll be signed out, and any GPS points not yet uploaded will be lost, so let a trip finish syncing first.
